Výzkumné šetření o vzdělávání studentů pomáhajících profesí v oblasti thanatologie

Abstract

In their paper the authors consider the importance of educating workers of helping professions, i.e. professions working with people and for people in the area of thanatology and keeping company with the dying people and the mourners. The authors see as a paradox in the conception of educating workers of helping professions that the students are instructed in many fields but not about the most important issue where the key to the whole meaning of life is hidden, i.e. about death and the way to die. According to the authors it is necessary to form the students? attitudes to death and dying already in their instruction, thus implying a change in their approach to persons in the terminal stage of life. Education of workers of helping professions in the area of thanatology should not be based exclusively on handing on theoretical information and knowledge but it should be understood as a complex educating cycle in the course of which attitudes to the basic ontological issues are formed. The aim of the education should then be making the topic of death not taboo and internalizing the fact of finality of life as a natural part of an individual?s lifetime.

Autorky se ve svém příspěvku zamýšlejí nad významem vzdělávání pracovníků pomáhajících profesí, tedy profesí pracujících s lidmi a pro lidi, v oblasti thanatologie a doprovázení umírajících a pozůstalých. Paradox v koncepci vzdělávání pracovníků pomáhajících profesí spatřují v tom, že studenti bývají vzděláváni v mnoha oborech, avšak v tom nejdůležitějším, který skrývá klíč k celému smyslu života, tedy v tom, co je smrt a jak zemřít, je nikdo nepoučí. Podle autorek je třeba v průběhu profesní přípravy pracovníků pomáhajících profesí formovat jejich postoje ke smrti a umírání a tím implikovat změnu v chování k osobám v terminálním stadiu života. Vzdělávání pracovníků pomáhajících profesí v oblasti thanatologie by nemělo být založeno výhradně na předávání teoretických poznatků a vědomostí, ale mělo by být koncipováno jako komplexní vzdělávací cyklus, v jehož průběhu jsou formovány postoje k základním ontologickým otázkám. Cílem vzdělávání by se tak mělo stát detabuizování tématu smrti a internalizace faktu konečnosti života jako přirozené součásti jedincovy životní dráhy.
