dc.description.abstract | This contribution introduces possibilities in the application of geographic information systems (GIS) for mapping and analysis of risks. The introduction of the article is focused on basic concepts and assumptions that the research proceeds from. The next part is devoted to a demonstration of a specific application, which is in this case the transport of dangerous substances between two cities. In addition, this part also examines the method of risk mapping and the choice of the most suitable route for the dangerous chemical substance using the GIS. The article also deals with the determination of risk zones in the event of accidents. Moreover, it specifies possibilities of employing the GIS in crisis and security applications. | en |
