dc.description.abstract | The economic crisis in 2008 and its development in the following period have deepened the importance of the factors which shape supply and demand within the labour market. The quantification of these factors is very complex and it may look as merely an abstract impression. These factors include a student's career aspiration which may be an important force in shaping job supply. This may be one of the causes for the deepening structural problems in the labour market. This research was conducted by the Faculty of Management and Economics at the Thomas Bata University in Zlin (TBU FaME) in 2011. The survey was targeted at Czech secondary schools. The reason for this research is mainly because the Czech labour market in recent years has been more and more confronted with the problems of structural unemployment and a rise in the number of unemployed secondary school graduates. For the purpose of this research we chose Roe's classification of occupations and theoretical conclusions. The collected data was evaluated and compared with the current structure of employment in the country. The research confirmed that the career focus of Czech young people is largely inconsistent with the available employment. There was also was a high degree of ambivalence within the career orientation of students at secondary schools. The consequences of these conclusions are an economic loss in the school sector and a very slow achievement of the potential of a subject in the labour market. | en |
