dc.description.abstract | This chapter is focused on antimicrobial modifications of polymer materials intended for medical devices production. Firstly, a brief introduction into the field of medical application of polymers is presented. Considering the fact that polymer medical devices are often connected with occurrence of nosocomial infections, the next part refers to this phenomenon and its causes. One of the possibilities of reducing of the infection occurrence is aimed at polymer modification. It is a key topic of the third part of the chapter. Finally, the methodology of the polymer materials antimicrobial properties determination is shown, together with references to the relevant standards. | en |
