dc.description.abstract | The wear of tire treads is very serious problem of vehicle operation both from the point of view of safety and economy of operation. The wear of tire tread moving on common ways (roads and highways) is usually measured as abrasion. But in the case off - road tire tread the mechanism of damage of tread is rather different. The sharp edges of stones gradually cut out smaller and bigger pieces of the rubber. This type of wear is called Chip - Chunk effect. New findings in chip - chunk resistance of tire tread are described in this paper.
