Abstract: | A recently proposed new slip model based on the 'effective continuum method' has been used for the investigation of the interactions between process additives and polymer melts, in single as well as multilayer flows. In this model, the interface between the process additive and the polymer is viewed as a moving continuum having specific rheological properties. It has been suggested that such interaction may have a 'suspension' like character. Specific attention has also been paid to understanding the role of processing additives on the stabilisation of the zig zag type of interfacial instabilities in film blowing coextrusion. | ||||||||||
