Abstract: | This paper deals with design of general purpose microcontroller-based data acquisition device suitable for all tasks related to process measurement. Hardware design is fully adapted to requirements such as high reliability and immunity against industrial environment, very low power consumption enabling battery operation when used with laptop computer, platform independent communication interface, compact dimensions and finally high precision. Functionality of designed data acquisition device was verified on real laboratory heat plant model using HC908GP32-Starter Kit development board, which is based on Motorola 68HC908GP32 microcontroller, connected via RS232 communication interface with supervision computer running Matlab6.5 software. |
