Abstract: | The development of microfibrillar-phase morphology in polymer blends prepared from polybutene-i and polypropylene was studied in this work. Pure materials and blends were extruded through a die with semihyperbolic-converging channel. Three polybutene-i/polypropylene blends with the mixing ratios (wt./wt.) 80/20, 70/30 and 60/40 were manufactured. Their structure and properties were examined using scanning electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry and tensile testing. It was found that the formation of oriented polypropylene domains embedded in polybutene-i matrix is achieved in all the blends. Fine microfibrillar structure was documented in 60/40 blend. |
