Abstract: | The paper deals with manufacturing and characterisation of acoustic and non-acoustic properties of consolidated samples of granulated expanded clay, pumice and light concrete. The analysis of the acoustic and related non-acoustic properties has been carried out to determine the optimal material composition. A comparison between the measured and predicted acoustic surface impedance has been made using a theoretical prediction model. It has been shown that these materials can provide alternative to other types of acoustic absorbers if manufactured in 50-100mm thick layers. A considerable advantage of these materials is a relatively low price, high mechanical strength and good chemical stability. |
