Abstract: | This article deals with the area of non-conventional technologies, in particular CO2 laser micro-machining is the subject of this experimental study. Micro-machining belongs to the group of production processes, in which undersized products are made. Results of the laser micro-machining ? surface quality of product and his utility in specific application ? depend on the laser parameters and the polymer material type. Commercial CO2 laser Mercury L-30 by firm LaserPro, USA was used for cutting of specimens. It is possible to change power and feed rate of laser system. From the obtained scientific knowledge it follows, that the character of surface machined by laser depends on thermal conductivity of polymer. The action of laser beam is best shown on specimens from PMMA. Finite element analyses of the transient nonlinear heat and mass transfer were simulated using of the two-dimensional model. The temperature distribution was derived. The analyses were run in the software solver COSMOS/DesignSTAR. |
