Increasing integration of practical activities to the higher education in the risk management in Slovakia

Abstract

The article addresses inadequate integration of practical aspects of economic life in Slovakia into higher education. It points out the necessity for a change as suggested by the European Council and analyses the current situation of the interconnection between universities and practical experience, specifically at the Faculty of Security Engineering (FSE) at the University of Zilina (UZ). Following a survey, the article explains the necessity for a closer cooperation between universities and companies in Slovakia. The aim of the article is to propose an improvement of the integration of practical activities into higher education in the area of risk management, in particular at the FSE UZ. The proposal is based on years of author's personal experience during his time at the university, as well as his own expertise in risk management application in a company.
