Abstract: The concept of smart city is a modern tool for efficient city management with emphasis on the latest trends and technological knowledge. The article analyses the concept in terms of EU, with particular emphasis on investment opportunities of the European structural and investment funds. Concept of smart city is also focused on social dimension and human capital in urban areas.
