Abstract: | The main task of this article is to describe the software solutions for the identification of live traffic levels in cities anywhere in the world. Two different methods are used and compared in order to apply these results in the industrial environment. Both methods are based on Google Maps solutions. The first method uses objects and methods directly in its programming interface (API), which can return the necessary values-that can then be processed. The second method uses a graphics representation of Google Maps with a traffic layer, where traffic levels are visualized using different colours. The required maps are then converted into a bitmap image where the colours are identified and then processed. © 2018, Danube Adria Association for Automation and Manufacturing, DAAAM.
