Abstrakt: | The values which each of us espouse cannot be perceived individually or separately; they are linked and structured within a hierarchy. This develops over the course of our lives, often not reaching their full form until adulthood. The organisation of individual values depends on age, intelligence, education, family and a number of other issues. Our basic values perspective is created over the course of our lives, affected by inherited predispositions and the influence of various external factors. Media culture could be considered one of these factors. What is the relationship for today's youth coming from an intercultural family background living in the Czech Republic to computers, and through that to playing computer games? This qualitative study considers what values pupils at senior-level elementary school (aged 12 - 16) attribute to time spent on computers; whether it is for them a method of spending their leisure time, actively or passively, whether on their own or with friends, or whether rather they attribute the time thus spent to the value of education. |
